Low back schooling now is one of the most helpful guides to dealing with low back pain.

BACK SCHOOLING
The low back schooling is a new format of dealing with  low back pain through intense education on proper ways of doing things, usually daily activities to avoid back stress that would emerges from bad postures used for our routine activities.

In this article, we will be talking about how low back pain comes about.

Studies have revealed that most of the cases of low back pain, whether chronic or acute, occur as a result of one's own daily activities.
Though, injuries from trauma, can result in back pain, this is most of the time not the major cause of low back pain in most diagnostic result.

This is because, how the body is positioned  when performing our daily work, is always not the right way.

The human back comprises about 33 vertebrae bones. This vertebrae bones are separated from each other by cartilage.
Spinal nerve also emanate from vertebrae foramen; a cavity formed by two vertebrae.

The back bones, which is the spine, is an S shape, which should be maintained as such, no matter the body's posture; whether lying, standing, walking, carrying, Squatting, and other activities that involve bending movements.

When the shape of the spine, deviates from normal because of our daily activities, structures surrounding are stressed. As a result, muscles can be shortened, nerves can be compressed, articular cartilage can degenerate or wear out.
However, the Major symptom due to this changes, may be severe pain at the back.

It is very necessary that, whatever you do, you must do well to keep the back straight in order to maintain the normal spine in the S shape.

Farmers, bankers, Seamstresses, Tailors, Drivers, Blacksmiths, Corn Millers, Traders, Prison Officers, Station officers, Nurses, Doctors, Surgeons, and other individuals who assume certain posture for prolong period of time, and involve in twisting movement, should make sure their spine is always straight.

Also,  the nature  of mattresses, and even how we sleep, may all contribute to change in the normal spinal structure, resulting in back pain. Firm mattresses maintain straight spinal structure than soft mattresses.
It is best to use two pillows when sleeping, with one placed under the back of the knees, one placed for the head to align the cervical spine, when you prefer sleeping supine(sleeping on your back)

When you sit too, it is better to rest your back on the back support of the chair.
If without chair and it's stool, sit close to a wall and rest your back to the wall.

This means, whatever you do, the good posture should be of greater concern to you in order to keep the spine in its normal shape.

We Will look at how you can keep your spine straight in various activities at the subsequent page.

Mechanism of the back pain.

When you don't assume good posture when performing an activity such as weeding, writing, typing, sweeping, digging, exercising, Sleeping, driving, picking, dressing, just to mention few, the spine deviates from the normal shape it's to have, thereby, putting surrounding structures such as muscles, nerves, ligaments, tendons and other soft tissues including cartilages under pressure. Compression of the sciatic nerve in a vertebra foramen may lead to back pain with radiculopathy. Patients with this condition, feel pain that radiates into their legs, mostly at the back of their legs.

This happens because the sciatic  nerve originate from L4-S3 spinal nerve root, so any compression of it would trigger pain in the regions where the nerve passes or innervates(dermatomes). Muscles can also spasm.
The body's way of preventing further damages, due to pressure on surrounding structures is to Cause muscles to spasm. Muscle spasm is an involuntary contraction of muscle; any contraction of muscle under no conscious thought is a spasm.
Spasm is very painful, so most people with back pain, often have muscle spasm because it is the body way of responding to changes in the normal spinal structure to prevent further damages.

Continuously assuming bad posture may also contributes to cartilage degeneration, though aging is a factor of articular cartilage degeneration  but the degeneration is twice as occurs in bad postures than aging alone.

Practicing the proper body mechanics would not only helps in preventing pain, but whatever we do, there's reduced risk of developing injury.

Low back pain remains the major cause disability in most countries.
It can be managed through physical means

Physiotherapy as a profession, what it is about

INTRODUCTION   It is quite sad why in this recent times, when physiotherapy has impacted so much on illnesses, pains, deformities, and disabilities, many populates do not know what physiotherapy is about.  Those who study physiotherapy becomes physiotherapist and physiotherapy technician depending on the level of qualification. In the local entity, many people refer physiotherapist or physiotherapist technician as the "Doctors of bone" and for some, they are  " Doctors of massage ". These are all not the real work of the Two professionals. It high time people are educated on what physiotherapy really entails. People who get into the physiotherapy profession,as earlier stated are trained to become physiotherapist and physiotherapy technician with degree and diploma qualifications respectively. Lumbar spondylosis is a major contributing factor for low back pain

Fig. from google                LUMBAR SPONDYLOSIS  The spine contains about 31 vertebrae bones. Cervical (7), thoracic (12),Lumbar(5),Sacral(4),Coccyx (3). These bones lie on each other and separated from each other by cartilage containing fluid-filled substance called synovial fluid. This cartilage is found on the surfaces of each of the vertebrae bones articulating with each other in providing cushioning and serves as shock absorbers. It also prevents the bones from kissing each other, that may cause inflammation. Lumbar spondylosis is described as all degenerative conditions affecting the lumbar spine. This degenerative conditions may be disc degeneration, disc herniation, osteophytes growth, foramina stenosis and other inflammatory conditions affecting the lumbar spine. Lumbar spondylosis can affect persons as young as 20yrs. It can be seen as a cascade -Anatomical changes...

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a median nerve problem

CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME . What's Carpal tunnel syndrome? Carpal tunnel SYNDROME is a condition caused by compression of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel, resulting in wrist pain and numbness or feeling of tingling sensation in the thumb, index finger, middle finger and lateral half of the ring finger. The median nerve provides sensation to the thumb, index finger, middle finger and lateral half of the ring finger.  What could cause carpal tunnel SYNDROME?  CTS has no known cause but certain lifestyle could increase one's risk. Who is at risk for carpal tunnel syndrome? People at risk are those with jobs or activities that involve repetitive finger use, especially those associated with high force, long-term use, extreme wrist motions and vibration. However, many factors may contribute to the development of carpal tunnel syndrome. They include: 1.Heredity (smaller carpal tunnels can run in families) 2.Pregnancy 3.Hemodialysis(a process where the blood is...
